Napoleon Lumpkins

Napoleon Lumpkins, 80, passed away at Colonial Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center, Marion, on December 7, 2017. He was born in Grays Knob, Kentucky on March 5, 1937 to the late Dewey and Georgia (Young) Lumpkins.

Napoleon served proudly in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957. He was employed with Fisher body and retired in 1993 after working thirty-three years. On October 22, 1971 he married June Newell. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2004. Napoleon was a member of the Fisher Body Sympathy Club. In his spare time he loved to go camping and gardening. He also loved working with his hands and enjoyed wood-working. Napoleon was also a listener of Country and Western music.

He is survived by his children, Aundra (Leroy) Sherman, Marion; Brenda Stambaugh, Marion; Joni (David) Glassburn, Converse; grandchildren, Lori, Kerri, Brian, Heather, Suzi , Tim, Steve and Lisa; fourteen great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Napoleon is also preceded in death by his brother, Mark Lumpkins; sister, Lola Jane Puritt and daughter, Linda Althouse.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 East Marion St. Converse, with Pastor Henry Favorite officiating. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Converse Cemetery, Converse, Indiana. The visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the funeral home.
