Nancy L. DaWalt

Nancy L. DaWalt, 78, of Peru, IN passed away at 9:10 AM, Monday, November 20, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Peru on December 24, 1938 the daughter of Harry and Ruth Lane Dixon. Nancy married Jay DaWalt at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru on March 16, 1962 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1995.

Nancy was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church and a 1957 graduate of Peru High School. She was a Teacher’s Aide for 19 years at Bunker Hill Elementary School and Pike Creek Elementary School. She was a member of the Elkettes, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Nancy was always quick with a smile, loved to hug and offered words of gentle guidance to many throughout her life time. She had a sharp wit and arsenal of funny sayings. She was a warm, kind hearted generous woman who exemplified integrity.

She is survived by sons Todd DaWalt and his wife Michelle of Peru, Mark DaWalt and his wife Angela of Royal Center, daughters Lynda Wood of Peru and Beth Wicker of Peru, a sister Karen S. (Cindy) Yoder of Peru and a brother Harry Dixon and his wife Janet of Kokomo, grandchildren Bridgett Harshman, Kyle Wood, Brittany Wicker and Bailey Wicker and great-grandchildren Addisyn Barbee and Berkeley Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jay DaWalt and a brother in law Dennis Yoder.

A service celebrating the life of Nancy L. DaWalt will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Main Street United Methodist Church, 81 West Main Street, Peru, with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather from 4:00-7:00 PM, Friday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru. The family would like to give special thanks to the Great Lake Hospice for their help with Nancy’s transition.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made thru the funeral home to the Main Street United Methodist Church.
