Mildred N. Leonard, 97 of Huntington passed away at 12:10 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at The Heritage of Huntington. Mildred was a 1937 graduate of Huntington High School. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She had worked for many years at Super X and Hooks Drug Store in Huntington. The family would like to thank The Heritage of Huntington staff for the loving care that Mildred received over her last few months.

Mildred was born on March 14, 1919 in Huntington, the daughter of George and Emma J. S. (Kreiger) Telfer.

She was united in marriage to Everett E. Hughes on September 18, 1940 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1945, dying while serving in WWII in Luxembourg, Germany. She later married Milton I. Leonard on August 17, 1946 in Wabash, Indiana. After their marriage the family moved to California where they lived for many years until returning to Huntington in 1966. Milton preceded her in death on October 25, 1968.

Survivors include three daughters: Linda Smith of Oak Hill, FL; Jean (Duff) Kandler of Chico, CA; Laura (Bill) Zahm of Huntington; a son: Richard (Connie) Leonard of Louisville, KY; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Emma Telfer, a brother: William Telfer, two sisters: Madeline Telfer and Claribell Ziegler.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.

Interment will take place at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
