Maynard L. Ramer, age 91, of Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Peru, passed away peacefully in the presence of friends and staff on Friday, February 16, 2018.
Maynard was born on August 28, 1926 to Claude and Ruby Ramer and was a lifelong resident of Miami County. He grew up in the Oakdale neighborhood, and had many fond memories of his family and friends as a young man. He loved baseball and reminisced about his days of playing baseball with friends in the fields around his home. Maynard was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. He spent many days listening to games on the radio and TV and could tell you about games and players from long ago. Maynard loved animals of all kinds and always had a dog or two as his trusty companions. He often quoted his favorite Bible verses and appreciated friends who would spend time with him in prayer. He spent his last four years as a resident at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, where his pleasant personality won him dear friends from their compassionate staff.
Maynard was entrusted to the care of Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. A graveside service for all friends will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11am at the Peoria Cemetery, located on Frances Slocum Trail near the Peoria Church and just below the Mississinewa Dam.
