Max Edwin Waters, 102, of Peru, passed away, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:15 AM at Millers Merry Manor in Peru. He was born in Miami County on December 16, 1913, the son of Harvey H. and Zella Herrell Waters. Max married Dorothea Overman on February 17, 1935 and she preceded him in death on July 2, 1983. He then married Edna Ramer Fewell on June 16, 1984 and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2003. Max has been an active member of the McGrawsville UMC since 1935 and went to Israel with his church family in 1976. He was a retired Miami County farmer, an avid golfer and a licensed private pilot. Surviving are daughter Janet Kunkle and her husband Mark of Peru; step-daughter Charleen Childers and her husband Paul D. of Converse; step-sons Jerald Fewell and his wife Marsha of Peru and Dennis Fewell and his wife Edna of Beulaville, NC; grandchildren Keith (Lena) Kunkle, Kay (Jason McCullough) Kunkle; step-grandchildren Danny, Tammy, Warren & Michael Cottrell, Mark (Linda) Childers, Marcia (J.B.) Ladd, Mike (Marcia) Childers, Phillip Cullers, Missy (Sam) Childers, Randy Fewell, Amy McKinney & Arin Duncan; 2 great-grandchildren Evan & Reece Kunkle; 37 step-great-grandchldren; 1 great-great-granddaughter Violet Kunkle and 12 step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Dorothea and Edna, daughters Linda Childers and Karen Cullers, a sister Charlotte Lamb, brothers Beecher Waters and Herrell Waters and 1 great-granddaughter. A service celebrating the life of Max E. Waters will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the McGrawsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Kenny Cole officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, IN. Family and friends will gather from 4:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the McGrawsville United Methodist Church.
