Max Edwin Martin, 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, July 22, 2017. He was born February 5, 1943, to Martha Elizabeth (Millspaugh) and Maynel Isaac Martin of Summitville, Indiana. He was their only child. He graduated from Summitville High School in 1961. He served as class officer and was a part of the basketball, cross-country, track, and baseball teams. He married the love of his life on June 27, 1964, Connie L. Burkett, in New Haven, Indiana.

Mr. Martin attended Indiana University, studying law, and then went to Indiana Business College of Fort Wayne. He retired from Chrysler in 1993. He was a member of the Local UAW #685 in Kokomo, Indiana, and also of the Masonic Lodge in Summitville, Indiana. He was a farmer at heart, working side by side with his father, and passed that tradition to his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Martin was a genuine, honest, and humble man. He was passionately dedicated to his family and his duty as a husband. He was so proud of his grandchildren and the many accomplishments that they have achieved. He was looking forward to seeing where the future would take them. He enjoyed spending time at the Florida home. His faith guided his life in all that he did. He truly was one of the good guys.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, daughter, Sheila R. Martin, Summitville, son, Duane (Lisa) Martin, Summitville, four grandchildren, Connor Maxwell and Caroline Elizabeth Martin, and Daren Matthew and Savannah Marie Martin, along with several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services Fairmount Chapel, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along with an hour before the funeral service.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the funeral home, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Rev. Michael Deutsch officiating. Burial will follow at Vinson Cemetery in Summitville.
