Mary Magdalene (Baker) Smith, 74, Peru passed Thursday afternoon May 5, 2016 at her home.
Mary was born May 31, 1941 in Cobb Hill of Estill County, Kentucky to Floyd and Hulda (Hall) Baker. She married Theo Smith Sr. on January 28, 1958 in Muncie, In.
The things that Mary enjoyed the most were family, fishing, flowers, wrestling, and her faith. She was the youngest of five children, she was a grandmother to 27 grandchildren, and she was a great-grandmother to 30 great-grandchildren and one future great-child.
She is survived by five sons: Thea Smith Jr. and wife Tammy Smith of Peru, In; Michael Smith and his significant other Brenda Helton of Peru, In; Daniel Smith and His significant other April Vermilya of Peru, In; Anthony Smith of Logansport, In; and Andrew Smith and his significant other Shannon Ray of Peru, In. Also, three daughters: Marilyn Smith and her significant other Arthur McFatridge Jr. of Walton, In; Rebecca and husband Ervin Mathew Shrock Sr. of Goodland, In; and Melinda Bingaman and husband Wilbur Bingaman Of Logansport, In. Also, one sister, Lillian Perkins of Kentucky.
Mary was preceded in death by both her parents, Floyd and Hulda (Hall) Baker of Kentucky. Also, one son, Floyd John Smith; one grandson, Joseph Smith; two brothers: Oriville Baker and Jay Baker, both of Kentucky; and one sister, Wanda Drake of Kentucky.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 9am – 11am at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home in Peru. Funeral service will follow at 11am, with Rev. Dale Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
