Mary L. Lerner, age 87, of Marion passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2017 in her home.

Mary was born on August 24, 1929 in Rochester, Indiana to the late George and Anna (Clayton) Nicholson.  She married David Lerner on March 25, 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2012.

Mary was an Elementary Teacher for Marion Community Schools for 17 years until her retirement.  She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Retired Teachers Association.  Mary enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, John D. (Mel Ann) Lerner of Bethalto, Illinois; three daughters, Anna L. (Russell) Boucher of Leesburg, Indiana, Rebecca J. (Larry) Gulley of Marion, and Susan K. (Chris) Boucher of Landess;  10 grandchildren, Joshua Boucher, Erica Cunningham, Kristina Rush, Danny Gulley, David Gulley, Christopher Lerner, JoAnn Siesennop, Ryan Boucher, Payton Boucher and Luke Boucher; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln Boucher, Annabelle Siesennop, Bruce Rush, Sophia Rush, Drew Boucher, Madelyn BouchWesley Siesennop, Gregory Rice, Delilah Gulley, Brooklyn Gulley, Ethan Lerner and Jonathan Lerner.

Mary was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Nicholson and William Nicholson; and a sister, Martha Vandendriessche.

Friends and family may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church prior to funeral services.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana with Pastor William Lahrman officiating.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
