Mary Jane Bryan Swift, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Marion General Hospital. Jane was born on January 11, 1935, to the late Alfred And Flora (Ice) Bryan. She attended Fairmount High School, where she took an English class with James Dean. Jane married Earnest William “Bill” Swift and he preceded her in death in June of 2003. Jane attended the Fairmount Wesleyan Church. She was an avid reader and would stay up until the early hours of the morning reading. She would read 4 or 5 books a week. Jane also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, watching the Colts and Pacers, and attending her water aerobics class, where she will be missed by her fellow classmates. Jane loved to watch the birds while she had her breakfast. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her six children, Debra Hipskind, Fowlerton, IN, Thomas “Tad” Dobbs, Fairmount, IN, Jeffrey (Kristy) Dobbs, Muncie, IN, Angie (Tim) Glass, Gulf Shores, AL, Tonya (Daniel) Siders, Marion, IN, and Rhonda (Chris) Badger, Nashville, TN; two step-sons, Michael (Sandy) King, Muncie, IN and Arthur (Vickie) Swift, CA; two step-daughters, Diane (Jim) O’Brian, CA and Marcia Swift, OR; 15 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Flora Bryan, her husband Bill Swift, four brothers, Robert, Charles, Wayne, and Allen Bryan, sister Wilma Bright, and son-in-law Mike Hipskind.

Arrangements for Jane have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services Fairmount Chapel, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service honoring Jane will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Bishop Rich Tucker and Pastor Joe Ruberg officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Zion Cemetery in Delaware County.
