Mary E. Burton, age 102, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 9:50 pm at The Heritage of Huntington.  She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1931, worked at a coil factory during WWII, and worked with her husband at Burton Service and on the farm.  She was a member of Christ’s United Methodist Church, Roanoke, was devoted to her family, enjoyed cooking for her family, and fishing.

 

Mary was born March 30, 1913, in Roanoke the daughter of George Smith and Mary Elizabeth “Bessie” (Houser) Husband.  On October 8, 1933 she married her beloved husband of 78 years Arthur O. Burton in Roanoke and he passed away April 4, 2012.  She is survived by a son-in-law Steve (Vicky) Eisenhut of Roanoke, 5 grandchildren Tara (Mark) Eisenhut-Whitman, Jana (Ed) Davies, Drew Eisenhut, Jeff (Krissy) Wilson, and Lauren (fiancé Jedd Smith) Wilson, and numerous great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by an infant son Larry Burton, daughter Judy Eisenhut, 4 brothers Clarence Husband, Russell Husband, Ted Husband, Bob Husband, and a sister Bernadine Thomas.

 

Visitation will be held Sunday January 31 from 2-6 pm at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes and 9-10 am Monday February 1 prior to the 10:00 am funeral service at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Tormey officiating.  Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
