Mary Ann (Burton) Denham, 87, passed away Saturday evening October 1, 2016, after an extended illness,

She was born on November 13, 1928 in Burtontown, Kentucky to the late Otha Bell (Hawk) Burton and Walter Eli Burton. Mary Ann married James Denham, Jr. on October 28, 1946, in Somerset, Kentucky. They had resided in the Peru area since 1948. Mary Ann and Jim would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this month.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; son James Denham III; son Michael Denham and wife Elizabeth; 4 grandchildren: Shelleen (Denham) ?await, Lori (Denham)Hahn and husband, Judd, Ryan Denham and Alisha Denham; 4 great grandchildren: Mackenna Dawalt, Brady Hahn, Brooklynn Hahn, & lace Denham; her siblings: Myrtle (David) Correll, Betty (Wally) Gebhardt, Geraldine Correll, Walter (Joann) Burton, Jr., Kenneth (Patty) Burton, David “Tinker” Burton, Linda (Joe) Waymire and Jane Burton along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Gregory Allen Denham, her sister Nancy (Burton) Hunt, and brother Oliver Eugene Burton.

Mary Ann was an extremely strong woman of faith and a member of the Mexico Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of many. She loved to collect rooster figurines, loved birds, and loved her home. She was an excellent cook, loved square dancing, and being with her family and friends.

The visitation and funeral will be held at Mexico Baptist Church, 4088 N. Carroll Street, Mexico, Indiana, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Visitation is from 10am-1pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, immediately following visitation, with Pastor Gary Colby officiating.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mexico Baptist Church Building fund.
