Mary Alice Labus, 90, Marion, died at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion. She was born on September 2, 1926, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Roy James and Dorothy Jane (Osborn) Powell. Mary Alice was a 1944 graduate of Tyner High School. On June 16, 1951, she married Carl Richard Labus. He died on December 5, 1994.

Mary Alice was a homemaker and a registered x-ray technician at South Bend Memorial, retiring in 1952. She attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Mary Alice was an avid plate collector, loved sharing her faith, maintaining her yard and cooking. She was a true cook, the kind of cook that didn’t measure anything. Mary Alice’s family was very important to her.

Mary Alice is survived by her son, Jim (Faith) Labus, Sweetser and a daughter, Susan (Roe) Vadas, Paducah, Kentucky, 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Alice was preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held for Mary Alice with burial at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery, Somerset, IN.
