Martina C. “Marty” Wiehe, age 95, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 1;12 pm at Parkview Whitley Hospital.  She had worked at Bluebell, Precision Plastics, Gripco, and at Homestead High School in the cafeteria. All the while she helped farm 80 acres.  She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbia City, and enjoyed needlework, embroidery, crocheting, reading and shopping.

 

Marty was born September 10, 1021 in Lafayette township, the daughter of Talmadge “Tom” and Lydia “Liddie” (Mowery) Sparks.  On December 8, 1940 she married her beloved husband of 67 years Albert Carl Wiehe in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.  He passed away September 18, 2008.  She is survived by a son David (Deb) Wiehe of South Whitley, 3 daughters Sherrie (Keith) Burnworth of South Whitley, Brenda (Alan) White of Colorado Springs, CO and Cynthia (Tim) Diffendaffer of Peyton, CO, 6 grandchildren Robert (Geri) White of Florissant, CO, Cheryl (Josh) Langley of Ketchikan, Alaska, Nathan Wiehe of South Whitley, Steven (Chelsie) Eckert of Plymouth, Christine (William) Showe of Fountain, CO, Travis (Jen) Norris of Terre Haute, 9 great-grandchildren, and a brother Tom (Janet) Sparks of Aboite.

 

Visitation will be held Saturday October 15 from 2-4 & 6-8 at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, and Sunday October 16 at the church one hour prior to the 4 PM funeral service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2465W Keiser Rd., Columbia City.  Pastor David Mommens will officiate.
