Martha E. Rasmussen, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Peru, Indiana, Saturday, February 27, 2016.
She was born on November 17, 1920 in Frankenmuth, Michigan to George and Anna (Haas) Daenzer. She married Vernon D. Rasmussen on December 1, 1942. She is survived by 1 daughter, Carol (Terry) Stejskal, 2 sons, Larry and Merlen (Donna) Rasmussen, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, Benny and Allen Rasmussen, 1 daughter-in-law, Gayle, 4 brothers, Harold, Edwin, Herman and Albert Daenzer, 3 sisters, Alma Danker, Elsie Fischer, and Clara Block.
She was a housewife for 60 years in rural Pierce County, Wisconsin before moving to Peru, Indiana. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing Euchre, and was very active in her church life both in Wisconsin and Indiana. She has left behind many very close friends.
A memorial service will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church, Peru, Indiana at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 3, 2016. Friends and family may gather from 10:00 AM to the time of service.
A separate memorial and interment service will be held in Wisconsin at a later date.
