Marilyn Joan Ferguson, 89, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at University Nursing Center. Marilyn was born in Marion, Indiana, on July 8, 1927, to Dewey and Thelma (Bookout) Weller. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She was very proud of her family. Marilyn married the love of her life, John Ferguson, on January 21, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2010.

Marilyn was an active member of the Elks Country Club for many years and was named their National Sweetheart in 1978. She also volunteered at Marion General Hospital. Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a member of multiple bridge clubs. She was a huge fan and supporter of Marion Giants basketball.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Kathleen) Ferguson, Marion; granddaughters, Paula (Stephen) Lhamon, Upland, and Pamala Turney, Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandsons, Lieutenant Casey (Abby) Lhaman, Columbus, Mississippi, Tyler Lhamon, Upland, Joshua Turney, Jacksonville, Florida, and Jackson Turney, Jacksonville, Florida; four step-grandsons, Bart, Jason, Jared, and Adam; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Jack Weller.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory.
