Margie peacefully passed away in Marion General Hospital on Saturday, January 23, 2016 after a courageous fight with her health problems for many years.

Margie was born in Rockwood, Tennessee and later married Virgil DeVaney. He preceded her in death. Later she moved to Marion and worked for Bell Fibre and then moved to Arizona where she became a foster parent for many years. From Arizona she moved to Florida and then to St. Helens, Michigan where she lived for many years. When her health began to decline she returned to Gas City to be near her family.

Margie was baptized at an early age. In Michigan she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the organ. Before her health declined she was an avid refunder and loved every minute of it. In her free time she also enjoyed baking for her veteran friends. She was famous for her pies, cookies, breads and especially her pineapple pie. She loved sewing, being around babies, birds, red roses, music and the many dogs she had over the years.

Survivors include her son, William Ray (Shirley) DeVaney, Sr., daughter, Barbara Ann (Jerry, Sr.) Costner, both from Fairmount; grandchildren, Andrea (Gary) Lutz, Jerry (Annette) Costner, Jr., Jason Costner, Billy DeVaney and Stacey (Bill) Turner; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Nina Hutchison, Bill and Juanita Pruz and Brandy Hutchison.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Florence E. (Long) Schillings; adopted brother, Walter Bedford; granddaughter-in-law, Stacey Costner, great-grandson, Johnny Huston and great-granddaughter, Jessica DeVaney.

Visitation will be held noon until services on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana.

The funeral Service will begin at 2pm on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul McPherson officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion.
