Marcia L. Butler

Marcia L. Butler, 87, Marion, passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center in Marion with her children by her side. A lifelong resident of Grant County, Marcia was born in Converse on March 9, 1930, to the late Solomon and Ona (Nestleroad) Pence. She married Donald Butler, Sr., on March 9, 1950, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1992.

Marcia was a graduate of Converse High School. She had worked as a seamstress with Butterworth Industries and in retail at Montgomery Ward, but Marcia was predominantly a homemaker. She enjoyed being a farmer’s wife, and she helped out in every way she could. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do, as well as being outdoors. There were always animals around as well, especially cats and dogs. Marcia liked NASCAR, playing Bunco, and watching sports on TV.

She is survived by her sons, Donnie (Donna) Butler, Jr., Sweetser, and Steven Butler, Sweetser; daughter, Susie Ruley, Marion; grandchildren, Tahler Butler and Trevin (Leah) Butler; brother, Sherrill (Carole) Pence; sister-in-law, Mary Butler; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Von Pence; sister, Lois Pence; and sister-in-law, Betty Pence.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Marcia’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery.
