Marcella J. (Harter) Ramey

Marcella J. (Harter) Ramey, 84, Marion, died at 5:13 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born in Gas City, Indiana, to the late Ora and D. Pauline (Hoppes) Harter. She married John F. Ramey and he preceded her in death in April of 1994.

Marcella was a 1949 graduate of Marion High School. She worked in the kitchen with Marion Community Schools at Kendall, Justice, and Lincoln schools. She was a member of First Christian Church, and she volunteered at Grace House.

Spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren, was very important to Marcella. She also enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Berg, Marion; brother, Thurman (Marilyn) Harter, Marion; daughter-in-law, Catherine Ramey, Summitville; niece, Deborah (Keith) Hoss, Florida; grandchildren, Shay (Kym) Ramey, Marion, Jane Kelly, Summitville, Julie Doepken (James), Seward, Alaska, Marcus Fernandes, Marion, and Michele (Jason) Stark, Muncie; great-grandchildren, Joseph Kelly, Kathleen Kelly, Sean Maxwell Kelly, Patrick Kelly, all from Southaven, Mississippi, Riley Kelly and Denver Kelly, both from Summitville, Samuel Doepken, Moriah Doepken, Susannah Doepken, Abigail Doepken, and Bethany Doepken, all from Seward, Alaska, and Cassie Ramey and Sammie Ramey, both from Marion; Gabriel Fernandes, Austin Fernandes, Hayley Fernandes, and Makayla Fernandes, all from Virginia Beach, Virginia; special friend and caregiver, Barb Mitchell; and with loving appreciation to Kym Ramey for her care of and devotion to her Memaw Ramey.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Ramey; father, Ora C. Harter; mother, D. Pauline (Harter) Rich; step-father, Russell Rich; sons, Stephen F. Ramey and Mark J. Ramey; and granddaughter, Cassie Norris.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, in the Chapel at Grant Memorial Park with Rev. Roslyn Harrison officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN.
