M. Virginia Renbarger, 92, Marion, died at 10:47 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. She was born in Marion, Indiana, to the late Jesse and Emma (Kem) Spencer. She married Max D. Renbarger on December 24, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2015.

Virginia was a 1945 graduate of Indiana University School of Music and she earned her Master of Music degree from Northwestern University in 1949. Virginia was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota at Indiana University. She taught piano for several years in the Sweetser area. Virginia served as the choir director at Sweetser United Methodist Church and Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. She taught in the Choral Department at Marion High School for 10 years and also taught elementary music at Clayton, Martin Boots, Center, and Southeast schools for 21 years.

Survivors include her children, Randall W. (Janet) Renbarger, Marion, and Karma S. (Steven) Freeman, Pittsboro; grandchildren, Kristen Freeman, Ryan Freeman, Andrew W. (Chelsea) Renbarger, and Danielle M. (Wade) Petro; great-granddaughter, Elliana S. Petro; sisters-in-law, Betty Spencer and Mary Renbarger; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max, of 64 years and her brother, G. Robert Spencer.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 2015 Co. Rd. 300 W., Marion, Indiana, with Pastor Rob Barton officiating. Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.
