M. Modesta Stein, 82, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:55 a.m., Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born September 12, 1933 in North Dorr, Michigan to Frank and Elizabeth (Miller) Pitsch.
Modesta was a graduate of Byron Center High School, in Byron Center, Michigan. She married Wayne Stein on November 29, 1958, in North Dorr, Michigan; he died June 15, 1999. She worked at Maggart-Pontiac-Cadillac, in Wabash, for 21 years, and owned and operated Wayne’s Coatings, in Wabash, until her retirement in July of 2011. She was an active member of the Saint Bernard Catholic Church, Wabash.
She is survived by four children, Nick (Colleen) Stein of Northfield, Illinois, Joel Stein, and Holly Stein both of Wabash, and Heather (Tim) Christle of Lagro, Indiana, eight grandchildren, Patrick, Tierney, and Tara Stein all of Northfield, Jack, Abby, and Matthew Stein all of Wabash, and Blade and Ember Christle of Lagro. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 188 W. Sinclair, Wabash, with Father Sextus Don officiating. Friends may call 4-7:30 p.m., Thursday, with a Rosary Service at 7:30. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming, Michigan, Saturday, April 23, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Alber officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Magis Fund for Saint Bernard School, c/o the Community Foundation of Wabash County or the Patrick Stein Special Needs Trust.
