Lula “Lulu” M. Loftis

Lula “Lulu” M. Loftis, 76, Gas City, went to be with her Lord at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, in Marion General Hospital. She was born in Moorhead, Kentucky, on December 21, 1940, to the late Orville and Doris (Netherly) Poston. She married Gerald C. Loftis, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009.

Lulu worked at Pierce Governor where she made fuel pumps. She retired in 1991. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of 8&40. Lulu attended Cowboy Church at Grace Community Church in Marion.

Lulu had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, partying, and bowling at the Legion and Plaza Bowl. Most of all, Lulu enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Horton and Darrell Horton, both from Gas City; step-son, Gery (Cheryl) Loftis, Upland; brother, Russ (Tina) Poston, Marion; sister, Judy (Frank) Sinclair, Marion; step-brother, Pete Brannon; grandchildren, Summer Horton, Rocky Horton, Amber Horton, and Kassi Horton; and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lulu was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Horton; brothers, Raymond and George Poston; and sister, Sandy Pattison.

The family will receive visitors from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services to celebrate Lula’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
