Lucy was born in Friars Point, Mississippi on May 16, 1919. She passed away in her Marion home on July 23, 2017.

Lucy came to Marion with her parents as a little girl. She was a Marion High School graduate and spent her working years as a domestic worker. She and her late husband, Fred N. Burton, had two beautiful children, James and Brenda. Lucy was a strong believer in the Lord and most recently she attended College Wesleyan Church.

Lucy was a collector of recipes, loved cooking and was an accomplished baker. She was a well known caterer and will forever be remembered for making hundreds of wedding cakes. Her beautiful cake creations included fresh flowers and the cake icing was to die for!

She is survived by her children, James N. (Vida) Burton, Marion; Brenda (Charles) Goodloe, Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Tackett and Robert Poindexter; one sister, Ida Stewart.

Visitation will be from 9am until the time of service on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the chapel at College Wesleyan Church, 200 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Mallory Terrance officiating.

The funeral will be at 11am in the chapel.

The burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery.

Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.
