Louis E. Belville, 99, lifelong resident of Marion, died at 4 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center.

Louis was born in Marion to Floyd G. and Hazel (Kizer) Belville and graduated from Marion High School. On April 28, 1940, he married Daisy Gray, and they had just celebrated 77 years of marriage. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Army Corps of engineers during World War II, specifically in the areas of Germany, England, and France. Following his military service, he worked as a nursing assistant at Marion’s VA Hospital. He was an avid golfer and spent a lot of time at Arbor Trace Golf Course. Louis also enjoyed bowling.

He will be missed by his loving and faithful wife, Daisy; children, Gerald (Billie) Belville, Fort Wayne, John D. Belville, Marion, and Lee Ann (John) Hill, Upland; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Jack Ross; and several other nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Ross, and several friends.

At his request, Louis will be cremated with a memorial service at a later date.
