Lon G. Price, 84, Hobart, Indiana passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, Indiana.  Lon was born on October 9, 1932 to James Esta and Golda (Rutledge) Price Sr., in Laketon, Indiana. He graduated from Laketon High School in 1950. On January 2, 1953 he married Phyllis J. Montel. Lon loved his country and served it for 20 years, including a short time in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntington, Indiana. After serving in the US Air Force, Lon managed Finance America Bank in Gary, Indiana and First Federal Bank, Merrillville, Indiana. He also delivered vehicles for several dealerships for many years. Lon was a member of Portage First United Methodist Church, Portage, Indiana where he served as an usher. Lon was and avid collector of toy cars,  I.U. sports fan and golfer, but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lon is survived by his wife Phyllis; son Ron (Sally) Price, Valparaiso, Indiana; daughter Cynthia Myers, Lafayette, Indiana; brother Edward Price, Wabash, Indiana; two grandchildren Monica Ranke and Karla Piercy; seven great-grandchildren Courtney, Ivan, Elizabeth, Melody, Ethan, Adrienne, and Wyatt. Lon is preceded in death by his parents James and Golda Price; three brothers James, Rex, and Lester; five sisters Mabel Schenkel, Ruby Montel, Katherine Curtis, Elizabeth Mallock, and Eleanor Eubank. Family and friends may call Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Indiana.
