Lois E. (Freds) Shearer, 89 formerly of Markle passed away at 12:50 am on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Peabody Retirement Community. Lois was a 1944 graduate of East Rock Creek High School in Wells County.
Lois was born on August 26, 1926 in Wells County, the daughter of John B. and Reeta E. (Dowty) Gilbert.
Her first marriage was to Orville F. Freds, he preceded her in death. She later married Russel Shearer, he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters: Marsha (Donald) Groves of New Castle; Marilyn (Keith) Bultemeier of Roanoke; Dawn Flynn of Fort Wayne; a son: Scott (Sheila) Freds of Warsaw; three sisters: Ruth Arnold of Bluffton; Joyce Roberts of Bluffton; Carol (Jerry) Day of Huntington; two brothers: Darrell (Clara) Gilbert of Bradenton, FL; David (Linda) Gilbert of Middletown; Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded by a son: Timothy Freds, a sister: Janet Cluster; a brother: Lowell Gilbert and a son-in-law: Roger Flynn.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel.
Interment will be at the South Whitley Cemetery.
