Ledford Benton, 82, North Manchester, IN passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born October 18, 1935 in Caney, KY to Willard & Netta Jane (Kash) Benton. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School, Dayton, OH. He then graduated from Manchester College in 1958 receiving a Bachelor’s in education. He received his Master’s in education from Ball State University in 1968. On August 24, 1957 he married Nancy Lee Mishler. She passed away December 5, 2012. Led taught at numerous schools in Ohio and Northeast Indiana. He retired from Manchester Community Schools in 1992 where he was a teacher, football & wrestling coach. He enjoyed fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. He was a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester, IN. Surviving are sons, Mike (Tori) Benton, Middlebury, IN, Barry Benton, Garrett, IN and Mark (Kelly) Benton, North Manchester, IN; daughter, Jeri (Dave) Lehman, North Manchester, IN; brothers, Max Benton, Farmersville, OH and Kelvin (Gayle) Benton, Lebanon, OH; sister, Netta Jo (Dave) Becker, Beavercreek, OH; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Family and friends may call Tuesday, January 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – noon and 1:00-4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Rev. Kurt Stout and Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate.
