Larry D. Drake, 80, Roanoke, died at 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Covington Manor in Fort Wayne. He was born in Jonesboro, Indiana, to the late George and Garnet (Brown) Drake. He married Rosalie E. Welch on August 9, 1956, and she survives.
Larry retired from 3M after working over 30 years as a janitor. He previously worked for RCA and Dynamite Cleaners in Marion. He attended “The Chapel” in Fort Wayne.
Larry was an easy-going man, who made many friends throughout his life. He liked traveling, especially with his wife. Larry enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie; children, Cathy (Dave) Clark, Upland, Beth Brown, Roanoke, Deidre (Wayne) Miller, Gas City, Larry Todd (Janel) Drake, Jonesboro, and Chad (Christy) Drake, Roanoke; grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen, Zachary, Lindsey, Ricky, James, Jordan, Brandon, Libby, Jasmine, Carter, and Cayden; 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; granddaughter, Kimberly; brother, Phil; and sister, Carmen.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Chad Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
