Kathy R. Kelly

Kathy R. Kelly passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on March 5, 1957 in Peru, Indiana t6o Charles and Carol Galbraith.  She married Terry W. Kelly of Greentown, Indiana on April 4, 1991.  They were married for 26 years.

Kathy graduated from North Miami High School in 1976.  She completed nursing school in 1987.  She worked at Miller’s Merry Manor and Dukes Memorial Hospital.  Her Native American heritage was always very important to her.  She was a lifelong member of the Miami Nation of Indian Tribe, the Godfrey clan.

Kathy enjoyed shopping, playing cards and spending time with her nine grandchildren.  She loved giving special gifts to those around her.  She was a lifelong animal lover of all kinds, and always indulged all five of her kids’ need to “save” every animal they came across.  Above all this, the thing that made her smile the most was the comedy and antics of her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her five children: Tabatha Stambaugh of Kokomo, Indiana, Michelle Hughes of Peru, Indiana, Robin Deetz of Martinsville, Indiana, and Dakota Kelly and Hunter Kelly of Logansport, Indiana.  A sister Sharon Wilkison of Mexico, Indiana, two brothers Charles Galbraith of Kokomo, Indiana, and Bruce Galbraith of Deedsville, Indiana.  Also, nine grandchildren: Jon Harris, James Stambaugh, and Atreyu Stambaugh of Kokomo, Indiana, Jami Stambaugh of Columbus, Indiana, Brittany Hughes of Logansport, Indiana, Dustin Hughes and Dylan Hughes of Peru, Indiana, Neo Deetz and Trinity Deetz of Martinsville, Indiana.  Also, one great-grandchild Shyla Harris of Kokomo, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Carol Galbraith of Peru, her grandparents Fremont and Ruth Correll of Peru, a brother-in-law Gary Wilkison, and two uncles Jim Correll and George Correll of Peru.

Viewing will be held from 2pm – 4pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home.
