Kathy L. Hammock, 70, formerly of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 2:06 pm, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at South Bend Hospice House. She was born January 7, 1947 in Muncie, Indiana to Harold and Patricia (Melton) Bowman.
Kathy attended Northfield High School. She first married David York, and he preceded her in death. She then married Jerry Hammock on July 1, 1988 in St. Joseph County, Indiana; he died July 22, 2014. She owned Miss Kathy’s Country Cottage, was a hairdresser, and a licensed practical nurse. Kathy attended Wabash First United Methodist Church. She was a licensed pilot and a member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club.
She is survived by her five children, Stephanie (Todd) Hersman of Niles, Michigan, Kimberly (Chris) Stevens of South Bend, Indiana, Tracy (Jeff) Clark of Elkhart, Indiana, Jeffery York of Cloverdale, Indiana, and Michael York of South Bend, three step children, Jann, Jerra, and John Hammock of Edwardsburg, Michigan, 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Camille (Ted) Ternet of South Whitley, Indiana and Teresa (David) Vigar of Roann. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Anthony York, and her sister Sherry Gray.
Graveside services and burial, will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Roann Community Cemetery, Roann with Pastor John Cook officiating. Friends may call 6-8pm Tuesday, at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Road, Roann, Indiana.
