Our beloved Kathryn passed away on January 17th, 2017. She was born in Onward, Indiana on April 22nd, 1917 to Bert A Byers and Stella Rinehart Byers.
She graduated from Onward High School in 1935 and married John A. Sholty in Peru on September 28th, 1935.
She was a member of the “Byers Sisters Singing Trio”, a member of the Peru Main Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Miami County Historical Society.
Kathryn retired in 1976 from Torin Corporation in Rochester and was a member of Local 947 where she had been a Union Committeeman.
She is survived by her daughter, Nyla Kay Webster, of Bahama, NC; sons Terry Robert Sholty (Susie), of Hagerstown MD, and Danny David Sholty, of Peru, IN.
She will be missed by her 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Albert Sholty, sons John Rolland Sholty and William Michael Sholty; 2 grandchildren DeeAnn Webster Pegram and William Coty Sholty; 1 great grandchild Brandon Rairigh; 3 brothers Harry, Jennings, and Rolland Byers; and 2 sisters Ferne Bowman and Bernice White.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 23rd, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, in Peru, Indiana. Burial will follow in Onward, IN at the Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Peru Elks.
