Katharine June Winegart, 98, of Warren, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN. She was born on Monday, June 23, 1919, in Roanoke, IN. Katharine was a 1937 graduate of Roanoke High School and a 1938 graduate of International Business College of Ft. Wayne. She loved to fish, sew and crochet. She made beautiful table clothes and clothing throughout her lifetime. Katharine was a member of the Zanesville United Methodist Church, and was a long time organist there. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: Daughter – Ellen S. (Gary) Bowersock, Yoder, IN, Daughter-in-law – LaVonne Smith Sparrow, Crown Point, IN, 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her: Father – John C. Nussdorfer, Mother – Edna Fern (Crabbs) Nussdorfer,Husbands-Maurice Barnes, Max W. Smith, and Elwood “Al” Winegart, Sons – Durand L. “Randy” Smith and Walter Brooks Smith, Sister – Betty J. Short.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A service to celebrate Katharine’s life will be at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 with Chaplain Gerald Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Peters 1st. United Church of Christ Cemetery in Huntington.
