June Ann (Craw) Peterson, 91, of Fairmount, Indiana died Saturday April 8, 2017 at York Place in Marion, Indiana.
June was born on October 15, 1925 in Fairmount, Indiana, daughter of the late Wilbur and Helen (McCallum) Craw. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1943 and went to work at Citizens Telephone as a switchboard operator. June and Gerald “Pete” Peterson were married on June 23, 1946 and celebrated 63 years of marriage before Pete preceded her in death on October 14, 2009. She was a member of the Fairmount Christian Church and was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and later attended the Center Christian Church. She was also an associate member of the Fairmount Historical Museum. June enjoyed reading, IU Basketball and attended IU Football Games for 27 years.
June is survived by nieces; Cathy (Mark) Sipes, Sally (Mark) Most, both of Fairmount, IN, Marcie (Bob) Kendall and Beth (Frank) Liestenfeltz, both of Marion, IN Julie (Ron) Caldwell, Florida. Nephews; Tony Craw and Robert (Leanne) Craw both of Fairmount. Sister-in-law Margaret Craw of Marion, IN and uncle, John McCallum of Worthington, OH.
Along with her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by sister, Marjorie (Robert) McManaman, Brothers Harry (Leona) Craw and Robert Craw.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where the family will receive friends 1:30 – 3:00 PM Monday April 10, 2017 with the funeral service at 3:00 PM at with Dr. Thomas G. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN.
