Julia “Gerry” G. Lewis, 90, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at York Place in Marion. Gerry was born on March 6, 1927, to the late Leslie and Bessie (Tedder) Shannon. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1945. She then worked as an inspector for RCA for 12 years and as a food director for Emily Flynn for 8 years. She married the love of her life, Merrill Gene Lewis, on July 15, 1962. He survives. Gerry was a member of the Fowlerton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Society Christian Service. Gerry loved her family more than anything and always enjoyed spending time with them.

Gerry is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gene Lewis, Marion; daughter, Julia (David) McCord, Medina, OH; son, David (Lisette) Lewis, Byron, GA; six grandchildren, Ashley Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Colin McCord, Jared McCord, Randall Osterhout, and Elsie Osterhout; two great-grandchildren, Evelynn Caillavet and Charlotte Caillavet; and brother-in-law, Charlie Lewis, Fairmount.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Bessie Shannon; brother, Eugene Shannon; and sister-in-law, Delores Shannon.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of York Place and to the Great Lakes Hospice nursing staff for the loving care they gave to Julia.

Arrangements for Gerry have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services Fairmount Chapel, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jack Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
