Judith Arlene Hoff (Johnson), 76, of Peru, Indiana stepped into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ at 4:25 p.m. on February 24, 2017 with family and loved ones gathered around her.

Judy was born in Miami County, IN on May 27, 1940 to Paul William & Carrie Ruth (LeVaugh) Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold M. Johnson, infant brother Paul W. Johnson Jr, sisters Erma L. Graf Flora, Frances J. Bookwalter, and Wilma L. Stoecker, and 2 infant daughters.

She was married to her high school sweetheart John Richard Hoff on February 22, 1959 and he was blessed to share their 58th anniversary with her just 2 days before she passed away. She is survived by husband John; sons Jeffrey A. (wife Margie) of New Hope, MN, James R. of Peru, Jason P. (wife Dana) of New Waverly, IN, and John Kenneth of Cassapolis, MI; grandchildren Elizabeth Kallestad, New Hope, MN, Christopher Hoff, Crystal, MN, Amanda Hoff, South Bend, IN, Daniel Copeland, Wabash, IN, Jason M. and Dylan Hoff, Peru, IN, Cody and Alec Hoff, Cassopolis, MI; great-grandchildren Savanna Kallestad, Euless, TX and Hayden Copeland, Wabash, IN; and brother Norman L. Johnson (wife Theresa), Palmer, WA, former daughters-in-law Della Barr (Bill), Peru, IN, and Carmen Hewitt (Dave), Elkhart, IN.

Judy retired after serving 16 years as Administrative Assistant and Social Case Worker with The Salvation Army in Peru, IN. She was also a very active member and employee of the Chapel of Praise Foursquare Gospel Church in Peru. She began serving there in 1977 as Church Secretary, became a Licensed Assisting Minister in 1992, was Church Treasurer beginning in 2006, and held oversight of the Deaconess’, Christian Education and Safe Church Programs. She enjoyed personal Bible study (both teaching and learning), and writing reference books on topical Bible subjects.

She loved music, played the guitar, chorded piano, and singing (casually and in church choir). Judy was exceptionally creative, and the entire family benefitted from it. She created a realistic time machine from a refrigerator box, and a giant-sized oyster & pearl out of chicken wire and paper mache which has travelled the U.S. She made specialized wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends; banners and props for church and children’s ministries; and travelling to search out family history/genealogy. She created many Family History Albums for the Johnson, LeVaugh, Ege, Barr, and Hoff and extended families.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Chapel of Praise Children’s Ministries. Viewing is on March 2, 2017 from 9 — 11 a.m. at Chapel of Praise in Peru, IN with the funeral immediately following. A private burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in Peru, IN.
