Joyce I. Hyatt, age 77, formerly of Swayzee, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Cumberland Trace, Plainfield, Indiana.

Joyce was born February 7, 1940 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Hal and Louise (Brooks) Mills.  She was a 1958 graduate of Marion High School.  Ed and Joyce knew each other since Kindergarten and started dating after he got out of the Marines.  She married Ed on October 16, 1964, and he survives.

She was a homemaker and attended Swayzee Christian Church and Swayzee Methodist Church.  Joyce was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mississinewa Chapter #94 and was a past worthy matron.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society; a majority member of Job’s Daughters where she was a past Bethel Guardian of International Order of Job’s Daughters; Marion Past Matrons and Grant County Past Matrons.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Hyatt of Avon, Indiana; son, Kai Hyatt of Indianapolis; daughter, Karma Cargal of Indianapolis; sister, Kay Eichorst of Marion; two grandchildren, Kamielle Cargal and Kalhie Cargal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Royce, Edward and James Mills; and sister, Rita Conner.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in the funeral home.  There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 3152 Little Road, Suite 146, Trinity, Florida 34655; or the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, 505 S. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.

Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
