Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Charles Moore officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.

Joy was born on October 6, 1953 in Corona, California, the daughter of Billy and Laura Mae (Stanley) Smithley Sr. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1972 and worked as a winder at Square D in Huntington for over 35 years. Joy was a member of Tree of Life Ministries in Marion and loved helping people. She enjoyed cooking and had a knack for matchmaking. She was very loving.
Survivors include two sons – Ronald (Alissa) Smithley and Gary (Sarha) Smithley, both of Huntington; four brothers – Jerry (Carol) Smithley of Logansport, Rex (Cheryl) Smithley of Fort Wayne, Bob (Patty) Smithley of Markle, and Tim (Lynn) Smithley of Huntington; a sister – Greta (Bill) Lesh of Huntington; a sister-in-law – Carolyn Smithley of Markle; seven grandchildren, and a great grandchild. Her parents and a brother, Bill Smithley Jr., precede her in death.
