Joseph Allen Adcock, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2017, in his home.  Joe was born on October 22, 1966, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late James and Dianna (Kendall) Gilbert.  Joe married Katherine McMurray, who fell in love with him back in junior high school, in 2007.  They recently celebrated 10 years of marriage.  Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge #650 in Matthews.  He was also a member of the Eastern Star with his wife, Kathy, and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Marion.  Joe enjoyed making stained glass, fishing, playing cards, especially penny poker, and looking for antiques.  He could see the beauty in things other people considered trash.  He loved to gamble and play slot machines.  He just knew that the next pull would be the big win.  Joe was a loving man who would do anything for anyone and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.  He loved children and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to ask how his nieces and nephews were doing.  Once you knew Joe, you knew you had a friend for life.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy, Marion; two children, Catrina Cupps, Marion, and Jessica Bartrum, Gas City; four siblings, David Adcock, Gas City, Ron (Tammy) Adcock, Marion, Tammy Gilbert, Baxter, KY, and John (Angela) Gilbert, Auburn; three grandchildren, Chrisette and Christian Nash and Malaysia Brown, all of Marion; and numerous friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dianna Gilbert.

Arrangements for Joe have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services Fairmount Chapel, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana.  A funeral service honoring Joe will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Hudson officiating.  Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. before the service.  Burial will follow at Matthews Cemetery.
