Johnny Rex Willis, 53, Marion, was surrounded by his loved ones when he went to be with the Lord at 9:58 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, to John Rex and Gerry (LaPointe) Willis.

Johnny was a U.S. Army veteran, and he worked in a factory throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, as well as playing cards and pool. What meant the most in Johnny’s life, however, were his family and friends and spending time with them. It was apparent just how much he loved his children and grandchildren. He was a very proud grandfather, and he loved watching his grandchildren grow up. He made every effort to attend their events whenever he was able.

He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and how he loved to make others laugh. Most importantly, Johnny gave his life to the Lord in 1986 and recommitted his life to the Lord just a few weeks before his passing.

His memory will be forever cherished by his daughters, Vanna (Danell) Elkins, Gas City, and Brittany Willis, Gas City; grandchildren, Analysha Willis, Amari Elkins, and Adrian Elkins; siblings, Gina Bruce, Debra Rabion, Thom Williams, Kim Scott, Pam King, and Stacy Fox; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; long-time companion, Kathy McFarland and her son, Logan; and his dogs, Mazzi, Pasiley, Sparky, and Shelby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Gerry) Willis; sisters, Cheryl Loftis James and Ada Williams; and Grandma Morgan.

A memorial service will be held for Johnny at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Eastview Wesleyan Church, 414 N. 10th St., Gas City. Pastor Mark Atkinson will be officiating. A meal and time of fellowship will take place at the church following the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion.

Donations may be made to the family for the grandchildren’s college education.
