John was born in Marion on April 30, 1968. He passed away on November 3, 2016.
He attended Marion Community Schools and was a 1986 graduate of Marion High School. After high school he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
John would often lighten the room with his upbeat wit and humor, effortlessly making everyone smile and laugh. He was dedicated to all of his family especially his children and granddaughter. John always helped people and was generous in spirit. In his free time he enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, fishing with friends, watching NASCAR races and he was a sports fan of all kinds.
He is survived by his parents, John C. and Kay (Travis) Hollars, Converse; sons, J. Garrett Hollars, Anderson; Nathan R. Hollars, Colorado Springs, Colorado; twin daughters, Stashia D. Hollars and Kaleigh S. Hollars, both of Swayzee; daughter, Casie N. Carter, Jalapa; sister, Lisa Niepaert, Illinois; granddaughter, Makiah M. Garza and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in the funeral home.
Funeral services for John will be begin at 12:30pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana.
Burial with military honors will immediately follow in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, Indiana.
