John R. “Jack” Irving, 88, Marion, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 10, 2017. He was born on November 21, 1928, in Fort Wayne to Floyd W. and Ruby Roberta (Brice) Irving.

Jack was a 1946 graduate of Marion High School and attended Ball State University. He was the co-owner of Irving Brothers Gravel Co. and a member of both the Masonic Lodge and LaFontaine United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include a very special partner of 25 years, Pat A. Rigsbee; son, Mike Irving, Pierceton; daughter, Debbie (Irving) Pearson, South Carolina; son-in-law, Ron Pearson, South Carolina; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 43 years, Norma Jean (Clapp) Irving; and brothers, Richard “Dick” and William “Bill”.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember Jack from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Crystal Jacobson will be officiating with interment following at Grant Memorial Park.

The family’s preferred memorial is LaFontaine UMC, 2 W. Kendall St., LaFontaine, IN 46940.
