John Lee Smith, Jr., 58, died at Twin City Healthcare in Gas City at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born in Marion to John Lee Smith, Sr., who survives, and to Jacqueline (Alwine) Smith, who preceded him in death.
John was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Lincoln Boulevard Nazarene Church. He followed NASCAR, and he enjoyed doing crafts as well as playing the video game, World of War Craft.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, John (Margaret) Smith, Marion; daughters, Sarah (Keith) Everhart, Marion, Christina Smith, Marion, and Jennifer Smith, Marion; step-son, Johnson Brewer, Gas City; brothers, Dale Smith, Wabash, Kenneth Smith, Marion, and Doug (Susan) Smith, Tennessee; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Lincoln Boulevard Church of the Nazarene, 3224 S. Lincoln Blvd, Marion, IN, with Pastor Bob Osenbaugh.
