John G. McCurtain, 80, passed away on July 27, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born in Miami County on November 23, 1936 to Ozark and Rancy McCurtain. On November 17, 1957, he married Marry Ellen (Colescott) McCurtain at the Jerome Christian Church in rural Greentown. They had fours sons: David, Paul, Christopher, and Mark.
John graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1954 and EMT class in 1979. He worked at Bryan Steam Corp. from 1979 thru 2002, and also worked at Dukes Memorial Hospital as an EMT for 32 years. John was a gun and music buff, having working in sporting goods for a number of years. He was also very interested in world and early American history.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, sons David and Christopher, and grandchildren Amber and Paul McCurtain and Tony Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister DeLerise Welden, and sons Paul and Mark.
Visitation will be held from 9am – 11am on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the First Church of Christ (S. Business 31, Peru). Funeral service will follow at 11am, with Shane Capps officiating. Burial will take place at Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
