John Daniel Broderick, 71, Columbia City, IN, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at his residence in Columbia City, IN.

John was born on August 4, 1944, in Dayton, OH, to George W. and Teresa C. (Holzinger) Broderick. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Broderick married Sigrid K. Gesaman on June 26, 1965, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN. She survives and resides in Columbia City, IN.

Mr. Broderick was an Electrical contractor. He owned and operated John Daniel Electric. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #1014, Huntington, IN.

Along with his wife he is survived by one son, Paul E. Broderick, Martinsville, IN; two daughters, Debra (Chris) Weber, New Palestine, IN, and Carol Atha, Angola, IN. He is also survived by one brother, James (Deb Lineback) Broderick, Huntington, IN; three sisters, Margaret A. (Rodger) Slater, Gilbert, AZ, Susan P. (Gene) Bowers, Huntington, IN, Mary E. (Larry A.) Eckert, Huntington, IN. John is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Hilary (Danny) Key, Luke Broderick, Ethan Broderick, Elise Broderick, Sam Weber, Emily Weber, Josh Weber, Ben Atha and Mark Atha.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nathan Weber, Lynn Atha; one brother, Michael T. Broderick; and one sister, Teresa M. Broderick.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Father Ron Rieder, OFM Cap presiding.

Burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Whitley County Hospice in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
