Jody E. Minick passed away Friday the 19th at 1:20 am at Hickory Creek Nursing Home. Jody was born June 14, 1930 in Arkansas to Elmer and Lexie (both deceased) and was raised with two brothers, Zelus and James (deceased) along with two sisters: Berma Lee (deceased) and Jerri still living in Arkansas.

Dad married on 11-16-1951 to Viola (now deceased) and raised seven children with the youngest son Gary Wayne (deceased). Jody’s remaining children are Virginia Smith (husband-Ray), Evelyn Snow, Lynn Minick (wife-Chris), Sharlene Orpurt (husband-Al), Judy Gale Sparks (husband-Leon) and Sharon Kaiser (husband-Ed). Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jody was in the military and worked for the N & W Railroad until his retirement. Jody was known for his great compassion shown in his ministry of giving out food items to those in need for over thirty years. He continued his compassion in the nursing home by assisting other residents and enjoyed the “outings” to museums, zoos and ball games and other social events.

Friends may call Monday, the 22nd at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home in Peru from 2 to 5 with service starting at five o’clock with Pastor George Dinkel officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery also in Peru.
