Joan Elaine McPherson, 81, Marion, died at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion. She was born in Marion to the late Albert C. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Jackson. On August 27, 1954, Joan married Talbott C. McPherson, and he survives.
Joan was a 1953 graduate of Marion High School. She attended Lakeview Wesleyan Church and previously attended South Marion Friends Church where she served as an organist for 35 years.
Along with her husband, Joan is survived by her children, Ronald L. (Tina) McPherson, Fowlerton, Beth (Karl) Strasser, Marion, and Allen (Tricia) McPherson, Batesville; grandchildren, Laura (Pat) Maples, Pigeon Forge, TN, Ross (Crystal) McPherson, Marion, Kyle (Ashley) Nelson, Marion, Allen (Michelle) McPherson, Jr., Cincinnati, OH, Alaina McPherson, Evansville, and Alexander McPherson, Batesville; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers.
The family will receive visitors from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A funeral service for Joan will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday May 23, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Freelan officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.
