Joan E. Diffenbaugh, age 89, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 9:45 pm at Heritage Pointe, Warren. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1945 and attended Huntington College. She was a substitute teacher for Huntington School Corporation for 25 years, and created commissioned stained glass windows for churches and homes. She was a member of St. Peters First Community Church serving in many capacities, Huntington County Art Guild, Huntington County Historical Society, Huntington Alert and Women’s Club of Huntington County. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent cook.
Joan was born December 26, 1927, in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of Stanley and Alpha L. Bush Huntley. On August 15, 1948, she married her beloved husband of 64 years Robert H. Diffenbaugh in Huntington and he passed away October 10, 2012. She is survived by one daughter Kay (Dennis) Richard of Jackson, MI, two sons Neil Diffenbaugh of Madison, WI, and Craig (Diane) Diffenbaugh of Huntington, 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 20 from 9:30- 11:30 am prior to the 11:30 am memorial service at St. Peters First Community Church. Pastor Brooks Fetters will officiate. Inurnment will follow in St. Peters First Community Church Cemetery.
