Jimmey Lee “Jim” Babb

Jimmey Lee “Jim” Babb, age 87, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in his home.

Jim was born on November 4, 1929 in Greenville, Kentucky, the son of the late Herbert James and Gladys Mae (Hundley) Babb.  He was a sergeant in the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He married Judith Ann “Judy” Shanks on May 22, 1960, and she survives.  Jim worked as a machine attendant at RCA for 43 years until his retirement.

He loved to travel, going camping, drawing cars, listening to music especially Elvis and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.  Jim attended the Hillside Wesleyan Church in Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Babb of Marion; two daughters, Jamie (Doug) Purkey of Lancaster, S. Carolina and Tina R. (Tony) Byrd of Green Cove Springs, Florida; two brothers, Earl Babb and Chester Babb, both of Marion; and grandchildren, Brian Shrout of Marion, James Shrout of Golden, Colorado, Johnathan Shrout of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maya Byrd of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and Bo Byrd of Green Cove Springs, Florida.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Babb and a sister, Mary Marshall.

Friends and family may call from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Henry Favorite officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.
