Jim Chism, 82, Swayzee, passed away in his home at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017. He was born in Swayzee to Pell and Hazel (Barker) Chism, and he married Virginia “Jenny” Burton. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2012.

Jim was an electrician and owned his own business. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his children, Gene Chism, Swayzee, Terry (Gary) Watson, Fairmount, and Mike (Sharon) Chism, Marion; siblings, Betty Dailey, Indianapolis, and Rex (Clara) Chism, Swayzee; two grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Watson, Amboy, and Jenny (Quenten) Foreman, Fairmount; and three great-grandchildren, Kasey, Kolby, and Luke.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Chism, and best friend, Jerry Cook.

A celebration of life service will take place at a later date for Jim.
