Jerry Losure

Jerry Losure, 75, passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion on April 21, 1942, to Maurice and Margaret Eldean (Corey) Losure. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1960 and from Ball State University in 1966 with a degree in education. Jerry married his wife, Sue Ringer, on November 27, 1965.
After graduating from college, Jerry taught industrial arts at Mississinewa Community Schools and in Van Buren before becoming a full-time farmer. As a fourth-generation farmer, Jerry had always been determined to farm. He worked closely with his grandfather and father and over time built a farm operation of his own, focusing on corn, wheat, and soybeans, and raising hogs. He was dedicated to his family and the farm, and he spent his life doing what he loved. For him, farming was not just a job; it was a way of life. Along with farming, he restored antique International Harvester farm equipment and was a member of the Warren Area Antique Tractor Club.  He enjoyed attending farm shows and tractor shows, including the annual Fly/In Cruise/In at the Marion Municipal Airport and the Warren Area Antique Tractor Show.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Eldean; his wife, Sue Losure; his sister, Susan (Phillip) Kadinger; his daughters, Cindy (Dmitri) Baraban, Amy (Brent) Beebe, and Katy (Mark) Brammer; and eight grandchildren: Jade and Aidan Stuber; Sophia, Nicholas, and Ella Baraban; and Ava, Ethan, and Gavin Beebe. He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Losure, and his daughter, Becky Stuber.
