Jerry L. Arrick, 80, Converse, went to be with the Lord at 5:03 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Marion to Jim and Claudeane (Grant) Arrick, Jerry married Constance “Connie” M. Merida on June 5, 1971, and she survives.
Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Jackson Township High School and attended Ivy Tech later in life. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Jerry worked at Bell Fibre and DuraRoll in Marion before his employment at Chrysler. He was an instrument man there for over 40 years until his retirement in 2006. Jerry attended Converse Church of Christ and, after retirement, worked in maintenance for the town of Converse. He also served as a crossing guard. He was a member of Light City Mopar Car Club in Wabash, and he loved his 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. Cars were his biggest hobby.
He will be remembered for being a hard worker, always holding more than one job at a time. Jerry loved to make others laugh and, therefore was always playing practical jokes on people. He was a fun-loving man and will be missed dearly by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Connie; children, Shawn L. (Shane) Robertson, Bringhurst, Cescily A. (David) Barnard, Greentown, Julianne M. Arrick, Converse, and James “Jamey” R. Arrick, Kokomo; grandchildren, Arricka (Chris) Cane, Ian Anthony, Gavin (Kelly) Kueber, Zach McDowell, and Gabrielle McDowell; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean (Mike) Sample; sister-in-law, Nancy Arrick; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry D. Arrick.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Converse Church of Christ, 301 E. Wabash St., Converse, IN 46919.
Services to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the church with Pastor John Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery.
